Wow...

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. As most of you are aware, I have just moved up to sunny North Queensland and am currently living out of temporary accomodation. But I am moving into a new place next week so I should be back into the swing of things soon.

I got a really awesome shock today though. While googling some research for my arachnarok spider that I am currently working on painting, one of my blog images was included in the recommended images on google. It was a bit of a surprise. :) Got the warm and fuzzy feelings. lol

Anyway. Ill hopefully be back to full operational status in the new year and will get back to painting as much as I can. I plan to have all of my WIP projects finished by easter. I have promised myself that I wont buy anything new till I finish the multitude of stuff that I have on the go at the moment. I hope to be able to keep that promise. See how i go.

Good times. :)

My workbench keeps getting more and more crowded

I thought I would post some pics of my workbench... It seems to be getting more and more crowded. I received my new order of warhammer stuff the other day and have been resisting the urge to open them. I want to wait until I move to townsville before I start working on them.

Here are the pics.

Some more new purchases

I sat down at the computer during my tea break last night while at work on night shift and was looking for something to do... Decided to log onto my regular Games Workshop suppliers website and have a look around. Needless to say, I spent a bit and bought some new stuff.

Got some tools to help with the construction of my miniatures, as well as another of the Arachnarok Spiders (See earlier blog posts, although I didnt finish the first one, Im not really happy with the way it turned out so ive decided to have another go). lol and got some Savage Orc Boar Boys. which are very cool models and should be a lot of fun to paint.

I dont have any pics to post this week as Ive been busy with interviewing for a new job. Which I have been offered and accepted. :) I put my notice in today with my current employer and will be moving up north to sunny Townsville at the beginning of December. Cant wait. :)

Ill try and get some painting done this weekend. but im going to put it on hold for a while, dont want to get too much done before the move in case anything gets damaged in the move.

Take care and ill post some pics next week. :)

The new purchase

Games Workshop have recently released an update to the Ogre Kingdoms Army, I love all the new miniatures and wish I were made of money so that I could add them all to my collection. I was able to do a few hours overtime this week and was able to buy a new addition for my collection. Its a great model and I cant wait to start painting it. however I need to work out a few techniques before I start.

hopefully I can get it done to a standard that I am happy with. Im probably going to be moving house again in a few weeks so I dont want to get too much painting done in case I have to pack them all in boxes.

Finally able to update

Well... my ISP has finally decided to connect my internet at my new house so I thought I would mark the occasion with the addition of a few photos of the models ive been painting lately,

let me know what you think.

Im really happy with the way it has turned out. pretty close to finishing. just need to paint the orcish riders.

Spent the weekend painting

Apologies for the lack of posts, however due to a relocation of housing I am in between internet connections at the moment.

I spent this weekend painting and I will post some photos of what I got done once I find the box that my camera was packed away in. however as I am very likely going to be moving again soon I am limiting the amount of unpacking that Im doing. :)

I am really happy with the work that I got done on the weekend. I can say that it is the best work ive done. I hope you think so too. once I get some photos up of course. :)

What Im working on now...

I have been unable to get much work done the last 2 weeks so I apologise for the lack of posts. I have just received an order from games workshop of some new paint and brushes as well as a few different miniatures to start working on so I thought I would start a step by step painting process sort of thing.

Starting with the Games workshop completed versions of each and then my painting as I go. Here are the 2 miniatures that Im starting today.

This is a Winged Vampire Lord. I love this miniature... I really hope that I can do it justice with my painting efforts. And...

This is a Wood Elf Spellsinger. I have started with the base coating on this one. so ill post some pictures once I complete the base coat.

As I said. these are not my pictures they are from the Games Workshop site. Ill try and do them justice. :)

Im on Night shift at work this week so I may be delayed with my painting. but I hope to make some progress by next weekend. as Im moving house next weekend.

Im really happy with the eagle so far. ignore the rider. he needs a lot more touch ups.

New camera = photo replacements

Just thought I would say that I have replaced some of the photos in my earlier posts now that I have a new camera and am able to take decent ones now. go back and have a look if you like. there are some much better images attached. :)

WIP Update on Warhammer

Here are some pics of some of my painting works in progress, you may notice that the photos are much better. I went out and bought myself a new camera last night. a Panasonic Lumix. So I will be able to take some good ones from now on. :)

Im really happy with the way these are progressing. Its been a long time since I did any serious painting and I am slowly picking up the skills again. Along with doing a lot of youtube research and watching a lot of tutorials and such online. :) Tell me what you think.

Weekly Drawing #5

Here is a drawing that I started this week while away on course. Ive bought myself a little pocket sketch book so ill be carrying it around with me all the time and drawing whenever the mood strikes

When I was younger I used to do a lot of punk style drawings, with cyborg attachments on faces and robots and what not. Mostly because I found it easier than actually drawing the facial features. If they were covered by some robotic feature then I could draw them how I wanted.

Weekly Drawing #4 - its the thought that counts

I havent had a chance to do any drawing this week. Ive been on night shift and have been rather busy, so I thought I would apologise for not posting anything this week. I am away from home next week as well so my next drawing post will be in 2 weeks.

Thanks for being patient with me.

Weekly Drawing #3

I have been flatout this week and have not been able to finish the drawing that I was working on, but thought I would post an in progress shot.

This is a drawing I was asked to do for a friend of mine of a dragon protecting 3 roses. Its her and her 3 kids. I am not really sure about it so far. but will keep going and see how it turns out.

Let me know what you think. Ill post the completed work later down the track. It seems that I very rarely get these works finished. :) My sketchbooks are all full of Works in Progress. But one day ill get them done.

Airbrushing....

I have just been watching a collection of Youtube videos on painting Warhammer miniatures from the user "buypainted". Looking at some of his work... which is absolutely amazing, I have decided that its time to buy an airbrush.

I have wanted to get one for soooo long. Just havent had the time or the $$ to invest in getting one and learning how to use it. Now that I am single and trying to advance my creative side, I think its time that I stop thinking about getting one and just buy one. Now I have to do some research and work out which airbrush to buy.

If anyone has any insight into airbrushing and brands etc. I would love to hear from you.

Thanks

Weekly Drawing #2

I thought I would make up for the late posting last week by posting this weeks drawing a day early.

This is something that has had many redraws done over the past 5 or 6 years. It was initially something that I put together as a tattoo design for myself back when I first joined the Air Force, but never got around to getting it done. I lost the original many moons ago and have been trying to recreate it since.

To be completely honest. Its not finished. I am going to ink it this week and post the completed work as next weeks drawing. I didnt want to rush the inking as I dont want to have to recreate it again because I messed up the inking.

Tell me what you think...

Weekly drawing #1

Sorry for the late post, have been quite busy. Here is the first of my weekly drawings. I am trying to improve my human anatomy skills and hands are the part of the body that I have the biggest problem drawing.

I would like to credit Mark Crilley for the inspiration and instruction on techniques for drawing hands. Its a bit rough but its not bad for a first attempt.

Now I have to go and write a job application... good times...

Spending too much time in the uncreative mindset

Good evening to all my readers.

Feel free to critique as you feel. I appreciate the feedback. :) Here are a few other drawings that ive been doing lately to tide you over. :)

Been a rather uncreative week...

Well, this week has been a less than creative experience. I have been writing job applications and havent found much time to get any drawing or painting done. I did a little painting of my orcs and did some more on the spider. Here are the progress shots.

Apologies for the terrible photo quality. Im still using an old iphone as a camera.

These are just Works in Progress and will be much better once they are completed. hopefully by then i have a decent camera and will be able to upload decent photos.

Spent the day at 5000 Feet

I went flying today for the first time in about 6 months. I am trying to get my Private Pilots Licence. Its a very expensive process and I have been trying to get as much flying as I can afford. But its taking a lot longer than I first thought it would

Here are some photos of the adventure. I really think that I have found my calling. Its the only thing that I do that doesnt make my heart race with adrenalin and make me panic. I panic when I drive a car. But when I fly I feel free. I am able to make the decisions that I need to make without panicking. I love the feeling of being in control of an aircraft and I hope to be doing it more in the future.
